Slack Integration

Zenhub’s Slack integration lets your team create, comment on, and stay updated about Zenhub Issues directly in Slack—so collaboration can happen where conversations already live, even if some teammates don’t have a Zenhub account. For more information see the official feature page.

What you can do with Zenhub for Slack

Create Issues from Slack

Create new Issues using the /zenhub issue command. You can add a description and select from your existing assignees and labels.

Comment on Issues by replying in a thread

You can add comments to Issues by replying to an existing Slack thread (“Reply in thread”). This works with or without a Zenhub account.

Get real-time Issue updates in Slack

When an Issue is updated or commented on in Zenhub, those comments and updates sync back to Slack so you’re not out of the loop.

Requirements & permissions

  • Slack admin required for initial setup: A Slack admin must complete the first-time connection between your Zenhub organization and your Slack workspace.

  • After the org is connected: Anyone in the Slack workspace can connect Slack channels to Zenhub workspaces.

  • Zenhub account not required for basic actions: People can create and comment on Zenhub Issues without a Zenhub account.

    • Note: A GitHub account is still required to create or comment on GitHub Issues.

Install & connect Zenhub to Slack

  1. In Zenhub, go to your Organization dashboard.

  2. Open Integrations.

  3. Select Connect your organization to a Slack workspace and click Connect.

  4. Complete the Slack installation flow.

  5. After installation, connect Zenhub workspaces to Slack channels from the Zenhub Edit Workspace page.

Using the integration in Slack

Create an Issue with /zenhub issue

In Slack, run:

  • /zenhub issue

Then follow the prompts to add details like description, assignees, and labels.

Add comments via “Reply in thread”

When a Slack thread is tied to an Issue, simply reply in the thread to add a comment to the Issue conversation.

Stay in sync with updates

Comments and updates made in Zenhub can be synced back to Slack to keep everyone aligned on progress.
