Issue Attachments
Add files, images, videos, and embedded content from tools like Figma, Loom, and Notion to give your issues the context they need.
Issues work best when they include the context your team needs to understand and solve problems. You can attach files, embed interactive content from other tools, and use AI features to make your issues more comprehensive.
Adding files and images
Drag and drop any file into an issue description or comment and it uploads automatically. This works for screenshots, documents, videos, and more.
Supported file types and size limits:
Images — PNG, JPEG, GIF, WEBP, SVG (up to 10MB)
Videos — MP4, MOV, WEBM (up to 100MB)
Documents — Word, PowerPoint, Excel, PDF (up to 25MB)
Code and log files (up to 25MB)
Compressed files — ZIP, GZIP (up to 25MB)
Images and videos display inline so team members can see them immediately. Other files appear as downloadable links. All files are stored securely and accessible only to people in your organization unless you change your workspace file privacy settings.
TIP: Name your files descriptively before uploading. "login-error-screenshot.png" is far more useful than "Screen Shot 2025-01-15.png" when your team reviews the issue later.
Embedding content from other tools
You can embed live content from supported platforms by pasting a link directly into an issue description or comment. The content displays inline with full functionality.
Figma
Paste any Figma link to see design files directly in the issue. Embedded content stays up to date automatically, so developers always see the latest designs.
Loom
Paste a Loom link to embed bug demonstrations, feature explanations, or UX walkthroughs. Videos play directly in the issue.
Miro
Include links to whiteboards, user journey maps, or brainstorming sessions. Team members can interact with the boards directly from the issue.
Notion
Notion requires a one-time setup. Go to Account settings → Integrations, click Connect under Notion, choose which pages to make accessible, then click Allow access. Once connected, paste any Notion document link and it displays with a content preview. Viewers need their own Notion accounts to see the full content.
AI-powered content features
Smart label suggestions
When you write an issue description, Zenhub automatically suggests relevant labels based on your content and repository patterns. Click any suggestion to apply it.
Acceptance criteria generation
For feature requests and user stories, click Generate AI Acceptance Criteria after writing your description. The AI creates a structured list of requirements you can edit and customize.
Comments and issue links
You can attach files to comments the same way you do in issue descriptions — drag and drop directly into the comment box. Connect related work by referencing other issues with #123 (same repository) or org/repo#123 (different repository). Include a brief explanation of why issues are connected rather than just dropping in numbers.
File privacy
Your workspace settings control who can see uploaded files. Private uploads (recommended) restrict files to people in your Zenhub organization. Public uploads make files accessible to anyone with the link, including GitHub users without Zenhub. Check the File Uploads section in your workspace settings to see or change your current setting.
FAQ
Q: Can I edit files after uploading them?
A: You can delete files from your own comments but not from other people's comments or issue descriptions. Upload a new version with a clear filename like "design-v2.png" rather than trying to edit in place.
Q: Do embedded links update automatically?
A: Yes. Embedded content from Figma, Loom, and Miro always reflects the current state. If you update a Figma design, the embedded version in your issue updates too.
Q: Can I embed content from tools other than Figma, Loom, Miro, and Notion?
A: Only these 4 platforms support direct embedding. For other tools, you can include links in your issues but they won't display inline previews.
Q: What happens if I share an issue with someone outside my organization?
A: They can see the issue text but won't be able to view uploaded files unless you've set file uploads to public. Embedded content from other tools depends on their permissions in those tools.
Q: Why won't my file upload?
A: Check your file size against the limits above and verify the file type is supported. If uploads continue to fail, try a different browser.
