Billing & Subscriptions
Manage your Zenhub subscription, payment methods, user licenses, and administrative settings.
Managing your Zenhub subscription involves controlling payment details, adding or removing user licenses, and configuring administrative settings. Only Zenhub admins can make subscription changes, so understanding admin permissions is essential for account management.
Finding subscription settings
Click your username at the bottom of the left sidebar, then select Account management from the dropdown. Zenhub admins can access Manage plan, Account details, Users, and other administrative sections. Regular users see a limited menu with basic account information and won't have access to billing or subscription management.
NOTE: Only designated Zenhub admins can view invoices, modify payment details, add or remove licenses, and make subscription changes.
Zenhub admin permissions
Zenhub admin status is separate from GitHub organization admin permissions — having one doesn't grant the other. Zenhub admins can view and download invoices, update payment methods, add or remove licenses, cancel subscriptions, and grant admin permissions to other team members.
To become a Zenhub admin, you need to be designated by an existing admin through organization management settings. If no one on your team has admin access, contact support.
Managing user licenses
Control your team's Zenhub access through the Manage plan section. You can see your current subscription status including licensed member count and renewal date. Use Add licenses to increase your count when new team members join, or navigate to Account details to remove licenses when team members leave.
NOTE: You are charged for all licenses in your account whether they are assigned to users or not. Monitor license usage regularly to ensure your subscription matches your actual team size.
Updating payment and billing information
In Account details, the Customer Information section lets you edit billing details like company name and address. The Billing Information section is where you can change your billing email and update your payment card. The Billing History section shows all past invoices with dates, amounts, and payment status — click View invoice for any billing period.
Subscription plans
All new teams receive a 14-day free trial with full access to Zenhub features. Paid plans charge per user per month and include all core features. Large organizations may qualify for Zenhub Enterprise with custom pricing and dedicated support.
If you currently have a Zenhub subscription through the GitHub Marketplace, contact support to make any changes to your plan or billing arrangements.
Canceling your subscription
Zenhub does not offer refunds for subscription cancellations or plan downgrades. Cancellations take effect at the end of your current billing period.
In Account details, the Cancel subscription option ends your subscription. Before canceling, consider whether reducing license counts through Remove licenses might better meet your needs.
FAQ
Q: Why can't I see billing or subscription options in my account?
A: Only Zenhub admins can access billing and subscription management. Contact your current Zenhub admin to request admin permissions, or reach out to support if no one on your team has admin access.
Q: What's the difference between GitHub organization admin and Zenhub admin?
A: These are separate permission systems. GitHub organization admin controls your GitHub settings, while Zenhub admin controls subscription, billing, and license management within Zenhub.
Q: When do license changes take effect?
A: License additions and removals typically take effect at the start of your next billing cycle. Some changes may be prorated depending on when they occur. Check your specific plan terms for details.
Q: What happens to our data if we cancel?
A: GitHub repository data remains unaffected since it's stored in GitHub. Zenhub-specific features like boards, reports, and workspace configurations may not be accessible after cancellation. Export important data before canceling.
Q: Why can't I downgrade to the Free plan?
A: The Free plan is limited to 50 users, 1 team workspace, 2 connected repositories, and 250 issues. If your organization has exceeded any of these limits, you can't revert to the Free tier without creating a new organization that stays within them.
